Our June 2023 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ1 preowned sales market;
May was an interesting month for light jet sales. As we look at the lineup of aircraft we are following (Citationjet 525 “CJ”, CJ1, CJ2+, CJ3, CJ3+, M2, Mustang, Encore, Sovereign+) we’ve noticed that the smaller the jet, the better they are selling.
Inventory levels of Citation CJ1 aircraft stopped their decline in May, and they are still sitting around a healthy 2.6% of the fleet available for sale. The Citation CJ1s available for sale right now have been on the market for an average of 83 days, while the sold units the past 6 months averaged 161 days before sale. There were a few aged units that sold the past 6 months which brought that average number up higher, so if the CJ1s keep selling at the same pace as the last six months, we should ideally see that average “days on market” number come down over the next few months.
