Citation CJ1 Market Update August 2026

August 2026 Citation CJ1 Market Report - The Jet Agent

The Citation CJ1 market enters August with a relatively limited supply of aircraft and healthy transaction activity over the past six months. Available inventory has declined meaningfully since February, although July brought a pause in sales activity after several stronger months.

Fleet Size and Availability

There are currently 14 Citation CJ1 aircraft available worldwide, including 1 off-market aircraft, representing 7.2% of the global fleet.

Inventory has trended lower during the past six months. Availability declined from 24 aircraft in February to 19 in March, remained at that level through May, and then fell to 15 aircraft in June and July. Current availability is therefore roughly 38% lower than it was in February, giving buyers fewer options than they had earlier this year.

Market Listings

Current asking prices range from $1.3 million to $2.4 million, while active listings are averaging 276 days on market.

The relatively long average DOM shows that limited inventory does not necessarily translate into an immediate sale. Buyers continue to differentiate between aircraft based on maintenance status, engine times, condition, equipment, and overall value. Sellers should remain realistic about how their aircraft compares with competing CJ1s currently available.

Sales Activity

Over the past six months, 18 Citation CJ1 aircraft sold, including 8 off-market transactions, representing 9.2% of the worldwide fleet.

Reported transaction prices ranged from $1.2 million to $1.9 million, with sold aircraft averaging 215 days on market. Activity was strong from March through June, with between three and five transactions recorded each month. No retail sales were recorded in July, however, creating a notable slowdown after five aircraft sold in June.

Key Takeaways

• 14 aircraft are currently available, including 1 off-market.
• Availability has fallen substantially from 24 aircraft in February.
• 7.2% of the fleet is for sale, compared with 9.2% sold during the past six months.
• 18 aircraft sold, including 8 off-market transactions.
• Asking prices range from $1.3 million to $2.4 million.
• Active listings average 276 days on market, compared with 215 days for sold aircraft.

Key Insight

The CJ1 market remains relatively balanced despite July’s lack of sales. Six-month transaction volume exceeds current inventory, and the decline in available aircraft since February suggests buyers have been absorbing desirable airplanes. At the same time, the 276-day average for current listings reinforces an important distinction: low inventory does not guarantee liquidity. Well-positioned aircraft can still attract attention, but sellers need to understand where their CJ1 fits within the market and price accordingly.
