Citation M2 Market Update September 2026

September 2026 Citation M2 Market Report - The Jet Agent

The Citation M2 remains one of the stronger Citation markets entering the fall, with consistent buyer activity continuing to absorb supply faster than new inventory is replacing it. There are currently 19 M2s identified as available compared with 27 sales over the past six months, while inventory has declined materially since June. More importantly, nearly half of the identified inventory is off-market, meaning the practical selection available to an unrepresented buyer is significantly smaller than the headline number suggests.

Fleet Size and Availability

There are currently 19 Citation M2s identified as available for sale, including 9 off-market aircraft, representing just 6.2% of the fleet.

Inventory remained remarkably consistent through the spring, with 25 aircraft available in March, 24 in April, 25 in May, and 24 in June. Supply then tightened sharply, falling to 19 aircraft in July and 18 in August. Current identified availability is 19, leaving the market roughly 20% to 25% below the inventory levels seen through most of the spring.

This remains one of the most restrained M2 inventory environments we have seen in several years. The headline count also deserves context: 9 of the 19 identified aircraft are off-market. Buyers who are represented by an acquisition consultant with the relationships and market reach to uncover off-market opportunities can access a broader pool. An unrepresented buyer relying only on publicly advertised inventory is working from a materially smaller set of choices.

Market Listings

Current asking prices range from $3.4 million to $5.3 million, compared with a six-month sold price range of $3.25 million to $4.95 million.

Aircraft currently available average 125 days on market, compared with 168 days for aircraft sold during the past six months. The shorter market time of current inventory suggests today’s listings are, on average, fresher than the aircraft that recently closed.

As inventory tightens, buyers should not assume that all available aircraft are interchangeable. Model year, total time, maintenance status, engine programs, condition, equipment, and history continue to create meaningful differences in value and desirability.

Sales Activity

There have been 27 retail sales over the past six months, including 3 off-market transactions, representing 8.8% of the fleet.

Sales have occurred consistently throughout the period: five in March, seven in April, four in May, two in June, five in July, and four in August. Unlike several other Citation markets that experienced a quiet August, the M2 maintained solid transaction activity through the end of summer.

The combination of 9 transactions in July and August with inventory remaining well below spring levels is an important sign of continued absorption.

Key Takeaways

• 19 M2s are currently identified as available, including 9 off-market opportunities.
• Current inventory represents 6.2% of the fleet versus 8.8% sold over the past six months.
• Inventory is roughly 20% to 25% below the levels seen through most of the spring.
• 27 aircraft sold during the six-month period, with transactions recorded every month.
• August remained active with 4 sales following 5 in July.
• Nearly half of the identified inventory is off-market, materially limiting the practical selection available to buyers relying solely on public listings.

Key Insight

The M2 market is tighter than the headline inventory count suggests. Six-month transaction volume comfortably exceeds today’s identified supply, inventory remains well below spring levels, and nearly half of the available aircraft are off-market. For a represented buyer, those off-market opportunities can materially expand the search; for an unrepresented buyer relying only on advertised listings, the practical pool is much smaller.

This remains one of the most restrained M2 inventory environments we have seen in several years, and it is occurring while buyer activity remains consistent. Buyers planning to acquire an M2 this fall should not assume that waiting will improve selection. If the recent pace continues, the greater risk is that the strongest aircraft (those with the best equipment, condition and value proposition) will be absorbed first. For sellers, current conditions are favorable, but scarcity does not eliminate the need for disciplined pricing and strong presentation.
