Citation M2 Market Update October 2026

October 2026 Citation M2 Market Report - The Jet Agent

The M2 is becoming a harder market to shop. Current availability is down to 17 aircraft, or 5.6% of the fleet, following a steady inventory decline since May. Twenty-four aircraft sold over the past six months, and seven of today’s opportunities are off-market, leaving just ten publicly marketed choices before budget, equipment, and maintenance requirements narrow the field further. Sellers should not mistake reduced competition for unlimited pricing power. Buyers still have options, but replacing a suitable aircraft after passing on it may be more difficult as selection contracts.

Fleet Size and Availability

The Citation M2 market currently has 17 aircraft available for sale, including seven off-market offerings. This represents approximately 5.6% of the active fleet.

Inventory has gradually declined throughout the reporting period, beginning with 24 aircraft in April before reaching a high of 25 in May. Availability subsequently dropped to 24 in June, 20 in July, 19 in August, and 18 in September.

This consistent reduction in inventory is encouraging for sellers, as fewer competing listings can help well-positioned aircraft attract greater attention. Buyers still have options, but the narrowing selection may create additional competition for aircraft with desirable equipment, strong maintenance histories, and attractive pricing.

Market Listings

Current asking prices range from $3.4 million to $5.3 million, reflecting differences in aircraft age, total time, equipment, and overall condition.

Completed transactions over the past six months have ranged from $3.25 million to $4.65 million, providing useful insight into the prices buyers have been willing to pay.

Active listings currently average 157 days on market, compared with 160 days for completed transactions. This close alignment suggests that current inventory is moving through the market at a pace similar to recently sold aircraft.

While inventory levels have improved, pricing remains an important consideration. Sellers should recognize that the highest asking prices exceed the upper end of recent completed transactions, making accurate comparisons essential when establishing realistic expectations.

Sales Activity

Over the past six months, 24 Citation M2 aircraft have sold, representing approximately 7.8% of the fleet. Three of these transactions occurred off-market.

Monthly sales included seven transactions in April, four in May, two in June, five in July, four in August, and two in September.

April was the strongest month of the reporting period, followed by another increase in activity during July. Although September recorded just two transactions, the overall six-month sales volume remains encouraging.

With 24 completed transactions compared with 17 aircraft currently available, recent sales activity has exceeded existing inventory. This relationship supports the view that the Citation M2 market remains relatively healthy, particularly when compared with aircraft markets experiencing growing inventory and slower transaction activity.

Key Insight

M2 buyers should be careful about assuming patience will produce a lower price. With 24 sales over the past six months and 17 aircraft currently available, selection has narrowed steadily since May. Seven of those opportunities are off-market, and the remaining choices become fewer once budget, equipment, maintenance status, and aircraft history enter the discussion.

Waiting until Q1 does not reset the market. Transactions completed at stronger Q4 prices become the comparable sales used to negotiate the next round of purchases, carrying year-end pricing into the new year. Buyers who waited for bargains in Q1 and Q2 of 2025 learned that lesson the hard way: less year-end competition did not necessarily mean lower acquisition prices. A buyer can avoid the December rush and still face higher seller expectations with fewer suitable aircraft to choose from.

For sellers, reduced competition supports a stronger position, but sold aircraft still averaged 160 days on market. That calls for realistic timing and an asking price grounded in the aircraft’s specific advantages. For buyers, the sensible move is to evaluate a suitable M2 against recent transactions and its total ownership costs when it becomes available. Passing on the right aircraft solely because the calendar is about to change is a bet on pricing, not a purchasing strategy.
