Our February 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ4 preowned sales market;
Four new Citation CJ4 Gen2s were delivered last month, bringing the total fleet size of CJ4s up to 428 aircraft in operation; up from 423 last month. Of those 428, 16 are currently for sale as of February 9, 2024, which is 3.7% of the total fleet. Last month, there were 18 CJ4s for sale, or 4.3% of the fleet.
While tracking aircraft markets, there are a couple of different data points that tell the story of where a market is headed. One data point is the average time on market, for both aircraft currently listed for sale as well as aircraft sold over the last six months. The Citation CJ4s that are currently for sale have been on the market for an average of 150 days. This is down from last month when the average was 179 days. The average time on the market for a CJ4 sold over the last six months was 105 days, up just slightly from last month when the six-month average was 98 days.
The other area we look at closely is pricing. We follow both asking prices of Citation CJ4s currently for sale, as well sold prices of CJ4s over the last six months. If you are shopping for a Citation CJ4 today, you can expect to see asking prices range from $5,950,000 to $13,500,000. In January, there were 2 Citation CJ4 sales, and 25 over the last six months. As for the CJ4s that sold over the last six months, their sold values ranged from $6,150,000 to $12,750,000.
In January, we saw the typical slow-down of aircraft transactions following yet another busy but relatively reserved Q4 in 2023.
