Our June 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation M2 preowned aircraft market;
There are 368 Citation M2s (including the Gen2 variant) in operation today, up 1 from last month’s market update. Of the 368 M2s in operation, 24 are for sale today, or 6.5% of the fleet. This is unchanged from last month, when there were also 24 available for sale. This is double the amount of M2s available for sale from our market report published in January.
The Citation M2s for sale today have been on the market for an average of 112 days, up from last month’s average of 94 days. Of the M2s that sold in May, 2 of them spent a relatively low time on market, causing the average to grow slightly as the older listings continue to age on the market. The M2s for sale today range in asking price from $3,595,000 to $6,500,000.
Over the last six months, 35 Citation M2s (including the Gen2) have been sold, with 9 of those being off-market sales. The on-market options spent an average of 123 days on the market before selling, mostly unchanged from last month when the average was 121 days. Of the 35 Citation M2s that sold over the last six months, they range in sold price from approximately $3,150,000 to $5,850,000.
Due to the Citation M2’s popularity as an entry-level jet, many buyers plan to stay in the M2 for less than five years. As a result, the Citation M2 market is historically an active market, with new listings replacing sold units quickly.Â
