Our September 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ1 preowned sales market;
Today, there are 195 Citation CJ1s in service, and 17 of those are currently available for sale, representing 8.7% of the total fleet. This is unchanged from last month, despite the addition of two new listings in August. One CJ1 sale and another being withdrawn from the market kept the available inventory steady.
Listing activity had been rising since March 2024 but leveled off in August. The 17 CJ1s currently for sale have been on the market for an average of 206 days, up slightly from last month’s 185-day average. The asking prices for these jets range from $1,300,000 to approximately $2,500,000, offering a variety of options for potential buyers.
In terms of transaction activity, there was only one CJ1 sold in August, but 10 have traded hands over the last six months. Two of those sales occurred off-market, underscoring the growing trend of private transactions in this space. The CJ1s that were publicly listed for sale spent an average of 142 days on the market before being sold, which is a slight improvement from last month’s average of 150 days. The sales prices for CJ1s over the past six months have ranged from $1,250,000 to approximately $1,850,000.
