Our September 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ1+ preowned sales market;
As the smallest fleet in the Citation CJ family, the Citation CJ1+ continues to present interesting dynamics in the market. The Jet Agent is committed to tracking these trends and providing insights to help buyers and sellers navigate the complexities of aircraft transactions.
Currently, there are 100 Citation CJ1+ aircraft in operation, with 7 available for sale—representing 7% of the fleet. This is consistent with last month’s figures. Notably, two new listings hit the market in August, the first additions since May. The CJ1+ aircraft available for sale today have been on the market for an average of 264 days, a slight improvement from last month’s 270-day average. The range of asking prices for these aircraft falls between $2,400,000 and approximately $3,000,000.
On the sales front, there were 2 CJ1+ sales in August, with one happening on-market and the other in an off-market transaction. Over the past six months, 9 CJ1+ aircraft have changed hands, with 3 of those sales occurring off-market. For those listed publicly, the average time on the market before selling has dropped dramatically to 129 days, down from last month’s 212-day average. This decrease is largely due to the removal of a sale from earlier this year where the aircraft had been on the market for over 600 days. With that transaction no longer in the rolling six-month average, the data now reflects a more typical market pace. Sold prices for CJ1+s over the past six months have ranged from $2,350,000 to $2,800,000.
