Our April 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ1+ preowned sales market;
In the Citation family, the Citation CJ1+ holds the distinction of being the smallest fleet member. Presently, there are only 100 CJ1+ aircraft in operation, with 8 currently available for sale, constituting 8% of the fleet. This represents a slight decrease from last month when there were 9 CJ1+ units listed for sale.
Listing activity for the CJ1+ fleet has maintained relative stability over the past six months, with a notable exception being a brief surge in December, when 12 units were available for sale. Despite the modest size of the fleet, there has been commendable sales activity within the CJ1+ market. As of today, CJ1+s listed for sale have been on the market for an average of 181 days, reflecting a decrease of approximately 60 days from last month due to a recent transaction involving an older unit. This transaction has also impacted the average days on market for sold aircraft over the last six months, raising it from 208 days to 289 days, attributed to the sale of a CJ1+ that spent 603 days on the market.
The current asking prices for CJ1+ aircraft on the market range from $2,400,000 to approximately $3,000,000. Over the previous six months, 9 CJ1+s were sold, with prices ranging from $2,400,000 to $2,895,000, indicating a consensus between buyers and sellers on the fair price range for the CJ1+.
Despite fluctuations in sales activity over the past six months, there remain several high-quality options available for purchase. Looking ahead, it is anticipated that the CJ1+ market will continue to see the typical 1-2 sales per month, underscoring the enduring appeal and demand for this aircraft model.
