Citation CJ2+ Market Update September 2026

September 2026 Citation CJ2+ Market Report - The Jet Agent

The Citation CJ2+ market enters September with one of the clearest tightening trends among the Citation models we track. Inventory has been cut in half since April after an exceptionally active stretch of summer transactions, leaving just 10 aircraft currently available. Although August produced no recorded sale, the broader supply-and-demand picture remains constructive and the market is increasingly short of compelling, well-positioned inventory.

Fleet Size and Availability

There are currently 10 Citation CJ2+s available for sale, including 1 off-market aircraft, representing just 4.5% of the fleet.

Inventory peaked at 20 aircraft in April and has declined every month since: 17 in May, 14 in June, 11 in July, and 10 in August. That 50% reduction in only four months is one of the strongest inventory contractions in the Citation markets we track.

Importantly, the decline did not occur simply because owners stopped listing aircraft. It coincided with a sharp increase in transaction activity through the summer, indicating genuine absorption of available supply.

Market Listings

Current asking prices range from $3.65 million to $4.75 million, compared with a six-month sold price range of $3.3 million to $4.65 million.

Current listings average 362 days on market, substantially higher than the 138-day average for sold aircraft. That 224-day difference is especially revealing. The market has absorbed the more attractive and competitively positioned aircraft, while older or less compelling inventory has remained available.

The CJ2+ is therefore becoming short of desirable inventory, not simply short of aircraft. Sellers with fresh, well-maintained, realistically priced CJ2+s should benefit from reduced competition, while older listings may still need adjustments to generate serious buyer interest.

Sales Activity

The CJ2+ recorded 17 retail sales over the past six months, including 4 off-market transactions, representing 7.7% of the fleet.

After one sale each in March and April, activity accelerated to four transactions in May, five in June, and six in July. Those three months accounted for 15 of the 17 six-month sales. August then recorded no transactions.

A zero-sale month is worth watching, but after such a concentrated period of activity it does not yet indicate that buyer demand has reversed—particularly while inventory continued to decline.

Key Takeaways

• 10 aircraft are currently available, including 1 off-market opportunity.
• Inventory has fallen 50% from its April peak of 20 aircraft.
• 17 aircraft sold during the past six months, including 4 off-market transactions.
• 15 of the 17 six-month sales occurred from May through July.
• August recorded no sales following 6 transactions in July.
• Current listings average 362 DOM versus 138 days for sold aircraft.

Key Insight

The CJ2+ remains one of the strongest tightening stories in the Citation market. Available supply has been reduced by half since April, while an unusually active May-through-July period removed aircraft from the market at a rapid pace. August’s lack of transactions bears watching, but the 224-day DOM gap may be even more important: buyers have already demonstrated a willingness to absorb the strongest opportunities while allowing less competitive aircraft to remain. Fresh, appropriately priced CJ2+s should enter the fall with materially less direct competition than sellers faced earlier this year.
