Our August 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ4 preowned sales market;
There were no new deliveries of Citation CJ4 GEN2s in July, leaving the fleet size unchanged at 442 aircraft in operation as of August 1, 2024. Of those 442 CJ4s, there are 30 currently for sale, or 6.8% of the fleet. This is down 6 from last month when there were 36 for sale, or 8.1% of the fleet.
Of the 30 Citation CJ4s available for sale, the average “days on market” is 148 days, an increase of 22 days from last month when the same average was 126 days. There were only two new listings added in July, and all the CJ4s that sold in July were under the days on market (“DOM”) average (more on this shortly). The CJ4s for sale today range in ask price from $5,100,000 to $12,995,000.
Now we’ll shift the focus over to Citation CJ4 sold data. In July, there were 8 (!) Citation CJ4s sold, and 20 have been sold over the past six months. 5 of the 20 CJ4s sold over the last six months were sold off-market and never publicly advertised to the public. As we alluded to above, the 8 CJ4s that sold in July were all below the average DOM, so when they sold that caused the average DOM for listings to rise. CJ4s that have sold over the last six months spent an average of 112 days on market before trading, down slightly from last month when the average was 116 days. The desirable CJ4s are selling within 112-116 days, while other options may linger on the market longer before selling. The 20 Citation CJ4s that sold over the last six months ranged in sold price from $7,700,000 to $12,775,000.
