The CJ4 (and Gen2 variant) market continues to see steady activity despite a key challenge: the windshield service bulletin. Scheduling this service can delay transactions, prompting buyers to explore creative ways to close deals before year-end.
Here’s what’s happening in the market:
Availability:
There are 450 CJ4 and Gen2 aircraft currently in operation, with no new deliveries from the manufacturer in November. Of these, 39 are listed for sale, representing 8.7% of the fleet—down from 41 last month (9.1% of the fleet).
Listings:
The 39 CJ4s for sale have been on the market for an average of 177 days, up from 163 days last month. Given the number of aircraft available and ongoing service bulletin requirements, this higher average is likely to persist. Current asking prices range from $5,300,000 to $12,750,000.
Sales:
Four CJ4s sold in November, down from six in October. In the past six months, 22 CJ4 aircraft have changed hands, including five off-market sales. Publicly listed CJ4s spent an average of 152 days on the market before selling—up from 99 days last month. Several November sales involved aircraft listed for over 400 days, contributing to the higher average. Recent sale prices ranged from approximately $6,200,000 to $12,850,000.
