Our July 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ4 preowned sales market;
In June 2024, there were 4 new Citation CJ4 GEN2s delivered from the manufacturer. This brought the total CJ4 fleet up to 442 aircraft in operation today. Of those 442 CJ4s, 36 are currently for sale, or 8.1% of the fleet. This is up from last month when there were 29 available for sale, or 6.6% of the fleet.
The 36 Citation CJ4s listed for sale have been on the market for an average of 122 days to date, mostly unchanged from last month when the average was 121 days. Listing activity continues to rise for the CJ4 family of aircraft, with 8 new aircraft being listed for sale in June. The CJ4s for sale today range in ask price from $5,100,000 to $12,995,000. Windshield corrosion issues have been a big topic of conversation between CJ4 owners lately, we believe this is contributing to the recent increase in listings of CJ4s for sale.
There was 1 Citation CJ4 sold in June, and 14 were sold over the last six months. Of those 14 sales, 3 of them were sold off market, never being publicly advertised. The CJ4s that were sold on the market spent an average of 116 days on market, mostly unchanged from last month when the average was 113 days. Sold prices over the last six months range from $7,700,000 to $12,500,000. We are seeing all varieties of Citation CJ4s selling, to include older models at a lower price point, and the newer GEN2 models commanding near-new prices. There is truly an option for every CJ4 buyer on the market right now.
