Our May 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ4 preowned sales market;
There are currently 435 Citation CJ4s (and Gen2 variants) in operation today, and for the first time since August 2023, there were no new deliveries from the manufacturer this month. Of the 435 CJ4s in operation today, 23 are currently for sale (5.3% of the fleet) which is up from last month when there were 20 for sale (4.6% of the fleet).
Looking first at the 23 Citation CJ4s available for sale, they have been on the market for an average of 116 days so far, and range in ask price from $5,595,000 to $12,995,000. There were 2 more Citation CJ4 Gen2s that entered the pre-owned for sale market in April, giving potential buyers an option for an almost brand-new aircraft, while avoiding the delivery delays (currently around 24 months).
Shifting focus now to the 22 CJ4s that sold over the last six months, they spent an average of 116 days on the market before selling, and range in sold price from $7,100,000 to $12,750,000. The average days on market for sold CJ4s has stayed within 10 days for the last few months, giving sellers a good idea of what to expect while preparing their aircraft for sale.
