Our August 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation M2 preowned aircraft market;
In July, there was 1 new Citation M2 GEN2 delivered by the manufacturer, increasing the fleet size to 372 M2s in operation. Of those, there are currently 28 for sale, or 7.5% of the fleet. This is up from last month when there were 26 available for sale, or 7% of the fleet.
Looking first at the Citation M2s (and GEN2 variants) available for sale, they have been on the market for an average of 123 days so far, down slightly from last month when the average was 132 days. They range in asking price from $3,595,000 to $6,499,999. This price range reflects a great variety of M2 aircraft for sale, ranging from early model year and higher time options, to almost brand new M2 GEN2 options. There is truly an option for every M2 buyer on the market right now.
Looking now at the Citation M2 sold data, there were 2 M2s sold in July, and 23 have been sold over the last six months. 8 of those 23 were sold off-market, never having been advertised to the public. The options that were publicly listed spent an average of 96 days on market before trading, up 5 days from last month when the average was 91 days. The 23 Citation M2s (and GEN2s) that sold over the last six months range in sold price from roughly $3,150,000 to $5,400,000.Â
Due to the Citation M2’s popularity as an entry-level jet, many buyers plan to stay in the M2 for less than five years. As a result, the Citation M2 market is historically an active market, with new listings replacing sold units quickly.Â
