Our June 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citation CJ3 preowned sales market;
The Citation CJ3 fleet grew from 409 to 410 aircraft in operation in May 2024 due to an aircraft being brought back into service. Of the 410 CJ3s in operation today, 26 are for sale, or 6.3% of the fleet. This is up from the previous month when there were 22 for sale, representing 5.4% of the fleet.
The Citation CJ3s currently for sale have been on the market for an average of 109 days; basically the same as the previous month when that average was 110 days. CJ3s for sale today range in asking price from $3,950,000 to $6,295,000.
During the last six months, 19 Citation CJ3s changed ownership, with 6 of those transactions taking place off-market. These CJ3s that were publicly listed spent an average of 142 days for sale before they were sold, up just slightly from the previous month when the average was 135 days. The 19 CJ3s that sold over the last six months range in sold price from $4,600,000 to roughly $6,450,000.Â
There are great options for sale right now, and a few pending sales. There has been a rising trend in CJ3 sales lately, with May being the anomaly for transactions with only one off-market CJ3 sold. Based on the pending sale of several CJ3s in early June, we anticipate seeing more sales soon.
