Our July 2024 update on what’s happening in the Citationjet 525 “CJ” preowned sales market;
There are currently 335 Citation Jets (CJs) in operation today, which is one fewer than last month due to one aircraft being retired. Of the 335 still in operation, 30 are for sale, representing 9.0% of the fleet. This is up slightly from last month when 29 were for sale, or 8.6% of the fleet.
The 30 Citation Jets for sale have been on the market for an average of 208 days, a small increase from last month’s average of 200 days. The current listings range in asking price from $1,000,000 to $2,600,000. The slight rise in average days on the market is due to a steady influx of new listings each month, while sales are not keeping pace.
In June, one Citation Jet was sold. Over the past six months, 17 CJs have been sold, with five of these transactions occurring off-market. The 12 CJs sold on the market spent an average of 102 days before trading, up just slightly from last month’s average of 99 days. The sale prices for these 17 CJs ranged from approximately $1,100,000 to $2,150,000.
Currently, there is a wide variety of Citation Jets available for purchase. These include options with original paint, interior, and avionics, as well as highly upgraded models. This diversity in available features and conditions explains the range in asking and sold prices.
Each aircraft market is unique and full of intricacies that can be difficult to follow. As the markets shift, it is more important than ever to work with a professional aircraft broker who studies these markets daily and can make expert recommendations based on actual market data.
